Music Monday: Kenna Ross on how a trip to Lewis inspired her to record In The Moment
From playing hotels, weddings and events to international session player and now an original recording artist in her own right, it has been quite a road for the Nairn artist
🎹 There’s something that immediately grabs you about Kenna Ross when she speaks to you. Not just the cheery disposition or thoughtful answers.
But how someone who seems so apparently coy about how her music will do, is such a great talker. Who oozes calm.
Not in a bad way, you understand, but one that offers a sense of belonging. That no matter how things may go on this Friday’s launch of her debut album of original works, you just know she is in the right place. She is someone who belongs.
In this week’s Good Stuff In Between podcast she effortlessly glides through how it was she came to be one of the Highland’s favourite session players, to appearing on national radio and at a string of the UK and Europe’s biggest shows.
But also someone who offers glances of humility and hard work, who doesn’t take any of these for granted, and thanks to the inspiration of others has found a way forward about to be let loose in the wild.
She talks about how the big, delicate and meandering sounds of her album can carve their own path ahead of a series of live dates, where all she hopes is for appreciation and people to enjoy themselves.
Episode 13: Kenna, is streaming now.
