Good Stuff Festivals
🏭 Eilean Dorcha Festival has unveiled its most ambition line-up to date for Benbecula happening on Friday July 26 and Saturday 27 July. Among the names included are Tide Lines, Skerryvore, Manran and Cammy Barnes to name a few. Tickets available now at their website.
🐋 Live at Loch Goil have also announced the remaining acts who will be taking to the stage on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May with Beluga Lagoon, Valtos and Torridon leading the way. Tickets, including limited day passes, are on sale here.
🥁That’s followed on Saturday 25 and Sunday May 26 by the Black Isle Belter festival being launched by Peat and Diesel. They’ll be joined at Muir of Ord by The Vatersay Boys, Face The West, The View, The Feeling and more for what has been billed as a show for over 16’s. Tickets On Sale Here.
Uilly Mac said: “We’re not only delighted to announce our biggest headline shows but excited to have two days of music and fun with you all in the Highlands. We’re overjoyed to have both The View and The Feeling come along and join us for these shows, bands that have been bringing you belters for nearly 20 years. The Highlands has been a very special place for us as a band over the last 5 years and we wanted to come back with a bang, well two bangs!”
🐘The new wave of festivals also sees Black Isle Calling taking place as a collaboration between Black Isle Brewery and Elephant Sessions on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 September, around ten minutes out of Inverness. Along with the Elephants themselves, Beluga Lagoon’s busy summer continues with more acts to be revealed. Tickets are available at this link.
🎻 The Chair, Hannah Rarity and Ryan Young are just some of the names listed for the Orkney Folk Festival happening between Thursday 23 and Sunday 26 May. Orkney ‘Friends’ tickets on sale from Saturday March 23 with General Sale beginning Wednesday March 27. It follows two record breaking years for the festival, which crowned its 40th anniversary celebrations last year by being named Event of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
🎼 Julie Fowlis joins Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, Gaelic supergroup Dàimh and many for Edinburgh Tradfest which will be taking place between Friday 3 and Monday 13 May. Their artwork makes this week’s featured image too.
🎸Keep your eyes peeled for Fresh Ayr Folk Festival which is expected to announce its line-up in the coming weeks. It is down for Friday 9 to Sunday 11 August at the the town’s Rozelle Park.
Good Stuff Live
🎤 Shirley Manson’s Garbage have just announced gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh on Friday 12 and Sunday July. The dates are part of their first European tour for five years. They will play TRNSMT followed by a night at the Usher Hall.
Tickets on sale from Friday March 8, at 10am.
🤘🏻 Paul Weller is at Dundee Caird Hall on Oct 27 followed by two nights at the Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom on 28 and 29 October. He’ll be supported by Liam Bailey on the tour which has other dates across the UK. Tickets also on sale Friday. His forthcoming album 66 is available on pre-sale now.
📻 Callum Beattie has been unveiled as the second act joining Amy MacDonald for the Clyde 1 Live 50th anniversary party at the Ovo Hydro on Friday May 31. More details are to be revealed in the weeks ahead, but tickets are on sale now.
🎩 Scott C. Park plays his first full band show of the year in Glasgow this Saturday night supporting Kilgour for the launch of their album ‘How To Put Your Hat On’. Show starts at 7.30pm. Ticket via LNFG.
🌀 Edinburgh’s Liquid Room will host inspiral carpets on Thursday August 8. Tickets went on sale on Friday. They will also play Alloa the following Saturday, in what has been billed as being their only two Scottish headline shows of the year.
🎤 Alison Eales, supported by Adam Ross, is playing St Mary’s and St Peter’s Church in Montrose this coming Friday. Probably best known for her work with Butcher Boy, Friday also sees the launch of her latest EP, Four For A Boy. Details here.
🎹 Watch out for a series of free concert this at the Pianodrome in Edinburgh. Among those performing are Fingertraps, Curiosity Stop, Mabi Piccolo and Acolyte. The first gig is on Saturday March 9. Click the image below for more details.
🎵 And Lucy Spraggan will kick off her summer tour in Glasgow at the Barrowland with a gig on Tuesday ay 14. She’ll be joined by Sonia Stein as support. Tickets here.
Good Stuff Released
🎷All roads lead to HMV Argyle Street on Saturday for The Laurettes launch party for their debut album Meet Me At The Main Stage. Entry is free, for a 12:30pm start.
🎧 Calum Jones has dropped a surprise new single - ‘Broken’ - recorded with River J. It got a great reception at last year’s Belladrum Festival and looks to be a firm new favourite for fans. He talks a bit about it in the video below.
💋 Huge congratulations to Paul McKenna Band on the release of ‘One Last Cold Kiss’ out on PMB Records.
💿 And Canongate are back with their sixth single ‘Sometimes, Everyday’ the title track from their forthcoming EP.

🗞 Some compelling viewing and listening coming up this Sunday following the news that Del Amitri’s Justin Currie, has been diagnosed as living with Parkinson’s disease.
He’ll be interviewed about it on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg airing on BBC One from 9am. That will be followed later on in the day by ‘Tremelo’ - a 30 minute documentary for Radio 4 airing at 4.30pm - where Justin narrates his own story of the diagnosis and how it has impacted his life.
🤝 Scottish Music Convention Widedays has unveiled the first details of this year’s event which will take place in Edinburgh from Wednesday 1 to Friday May 3. Artists announced so far include Indoor Foxes, Adjua and Zoe Graham with more to be announced in the coming days and weeks. Delegate passes available now.
💻 Congratulations to the Scottish Music Industry Association on the launch of their new look website. SMIA membership is free and open to anyone working in – or aspiring to work in – music in Scotland. Check it out here.
